Matt is a trauma Counsellor in Wollongong who offers a no judgement, compassionate space for healing, growth, and honest exploration.

Working with people in Wollongong and the Illawarra who are navigating trauma, grief, life transitions or the quiet sense that something needs to change. My approach is grounded with no judgment so you can bring what ever it is that has you reaching out for support.

I didn’t start out as a counsellor. I’ve worked on the tools, trained people in the gym and currently support young people in care. What’s tied all of it together for me is a deep curiosity about people, how we grow, how we heal and how we find meaning in our lives. These days I sit with people who have reached a point and no longer want to turn away from their inner world. It shows up at different times for everyone, and if ignored, these parts have a way of nudging us in the moments we least expect.

 FAQs

  • Not at all. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Many people carry shame or fear around asking for help, but therapy is a space free from judgment — one where all parts of you are welcome. Whatever you’re bringing, chances are it’s more common than you think.

  • It’s common to fear that intense emotions, confusion, or inner struggles mean something is wrong with you. But in reality, many people experience anxiety, overwhelm, grief, or patterns they don’t understand. Therapy helps you make sense of these experiences with compassion — not pathology.

  • That’s completely okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin. Part of the therapeutic process is discovering together what’s going on beneath the surface. You can come exactly as you are — it’s my role to help create a space where things can gently unfold.
